Red-haired, hot-tempered Hanamichi Sakuragi enters high school like a bull in a china shop. He's tall, strong, strong-willed and usually wins in a fight but he always strikes out with the ladies. Then he meets Haruko Akagi, a sweet young freshmen who notices his height and asks, "Do you like basketball?"

Smitten Sakuragi immediately answers "Yes!" even though he's never played the game in his life. He then begins his awkward but ultimately inspiring journey to join the school's basketball team, win the trust of his skeptical teammates and become a star player.

With over 31 volumes in the series, Slam Dunk has been translated and published all over the world, and now returns to the U.S. after an aborted run with now defunct Raijin Comics. In 2007, Slam Dunk was voted the #1 manga of all time by Japanese fans at 10th Japan Media Arts Festival.
