When Haruna's father is disgraced in a political scandal, she transfers from the elite K Academy to a new high school. Once enrolled, she immediately judges her new school be just like a mountain of monkeys: full of clichés and classmates all scrambling to claim their place in the social hierarchy.
While she initially comes across as aloof and jaded, Haruna eventually finds that "Monkey High" has its charms, or at least one of her classmates does, as she starts to fall for Macharu, the guy she originally dubbed as the 'baby monkey.'
