To celebrate the recent opening of Books Kinokuniya's new Bryant Park store in New York City, renown manga artist Takehiko Inoue painted a mural featuring characters from his award-winning seinen manga series, Vagabond. Started and completed over a November weekend, the mural is the highlight of Books Kinokuniya's second floor devoted to manga, anime DVDs, CDs, art books and collectibles.
VIZ Media hosted a reception to celebrate the mural's completion and to announce the upcoming 2008 releases of Inoue's best known sports manga series, Slam Dunk and Real in the U.S., plus his two art books, Sumi and Water.
Read our interview with Takehiko Inoue, and find out how Inoue-sensei's storytelling has captured the imaginations of fans around the world, how he's giving back to the sport he loves, and why he thinks his stories have 'grown up' over the years.
