Japanese manga creator Yuna Kagesaki made several appearances at Sakura-Con 2008, including a special Q&A session for Chibi Vampire (Karin) fans hosted by TokyoPop. After the Q&A session, Kagesaki-sensei posed for pictures with a cosplayer dressed as Karin the teenage vampire from Chibi Vampire.
Jennifer T. from Lacey, Washington decided to come to Sakura-Con as Karin, because "I was trying to find an anime character where I wouldn't see millions of other cosplayers wearing the same thing." She made the outfit herself in "less than a month," and added, "I really love the anime, because it's really cute."
