Manhattanite David S. came to New York Comic-Con in a truly heroic-looking Captain America outfit. Every detail, from his fitted costume and his authentic metal shield was the result of his own efforts. When I asked him what inspired him to go to the extra effort to make such an professional-looking outfit, he mentioned that he "liked the new Captain America storyline and costume," but more importantly, he was doing it as a tribute to his father.
"My dad and I used to come to New York Comic-Con together -- and this is the first year that he's not here with me. So I'm wearing this for me and for him."
