With the new Speed Racer live action movie due in theaters on May 9, there's renewed interest in all things related to Speed and the Mach 5. No fewer than three manga adaptations of the Speed Racer story will hit the comics and book shops this Spring -- but probably the best is DMP Platinum's edition of the original stories by Tatsuo Yoshida.
This two-volume hardcover boxed set is truly a collector's item, and one made even more special with an autograph from Peter Fernandez, the voice of Speed for the original American release of the Speed Racer animated series who also wrote the introduction to the DMP edition of the manga. Here, Fernandez autographs a copy for a happy fan at the Digital Manga Publishing booth on Saturday at New York Comic-Con.
