Tonight: Comic-Con Preview Night
Just when you thought San Diego Comic-Con 2007 couldn't top last year's jam-packed schedule of movie previews, star sightings, panels, events and exclusive limited edition toys, this year's show looks to be even bigger.
As of two weeks ago, four-day passes were sold out, and one-day passes to attend Saturday's show (typically the busiest day) are also gone. Now Comic-Con's web site is offering the ominous news that even one-day passes for Friday are selling fast. So if you're planning on attending the show and you don't have tickets yet, be sure to check the Comic-Con ticket page for the latest ticket updates.
I took a cruise through the show floor before opening, and a lot of manga publishers are here, big and small. Here's a quick cheat sheet of booth locations for manga publishers:
- Aurora Publishing (at Kinokuniya) - Booth 5452
- Broccoli Books - Booth 2235
- CMX Manga (at DC Comics) - Booth 1915
- Dark Horse Manga (at Dark Horse Comics) - Booth 2615
- Del Rey Manga - Booth 1131
- Drawn and Quarterly - Booth 1529
- Fanfare / Ponent Mon (at Davis Marketing) - Booth 719
- Seven Seas Manga - Booth 2649
- TokyoPop - Booth 3529
- Udon - Booth 4249
- VIZ Media - Booth 4113
- Yaoi Press - Booth B4
- Yen Press (at Hachette Publications) - Booth 1118
If you're here for preview night or the first day of the show, be sure to visit Del Rey, CMX, Dark Horse, Yen Press, VIZ and TokyoPop's booths to pick up their latest free manga samplers, showcasing new releases for summer and fall. It's kind of like those free samples at Costco, except less fattening. And like a lot of Comic-Con freebies, they sometimes have a way of running out before show's end, so make sure to drop by early for your copy.
