Comic-Con 2012: Pundits Pick 2012's Best and Worst Manga

By July 27, 2012

Follow me on:

Sailor Moon Volume 1At the Best and Worst Manga Panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2012, critics Carlo Santos (Anime News Network), Brigid Alverson (MangaBlog and Robot 6), Christopher Butcher (The Beguiling and Comics212.net), Shaenon Garrity (ComiXology, The Comics Journal), and I raved and ranted about our favorite and least favorite manga of the past year.

As usual, we picked an interesting mix of titles, from bestselling perennial favorites like Sailor Moon to underrated fare for grown-ups like Breathe Deeply. And as usual, we had lots to say about why we love (and loathed) these new titles and continuing series.

Check out this year's list of over 40 titles picked for this year's Comic-Con Best and Worst Manga panel, what we had to say about our picks for the best new and continuing manga for kids/teens, for grown-ups, and the most despicable manga that was published in 2011-2012. Also, check out their 5 most-anticipated Fall/Winter 2012-2013 releases, 5 most-wanted-but-not-yet-licensed titles, and 5 underrated manga worth checking out.

Also, just for fun, check out our picks from past year's Best & Worst Manga panels -- here's our list from the 2011 Comic-Con Best and Worst Manga panel, and our rants and raves from the 2010 Best and Worst Manga panel.
