Follow me on:

Dark Horse DigitalNow that we're a few weeks into the New Year, (and maybe a few of those credit card bills from the holidays have arrived in your mail box), you're probably taking another look at your spending habits for 2012. But does that mean that you'll have to cut back on manga?

Not necessarily! There are lots of ways to enjoy manga without shelling out $10-$15 a volume, especially in 2012, when so many publishers are offering less expensive online / digital alternatives to buying printed editions of your favorite manga. VIZManga.com, JManga.com, Kodansha Comics, Yen Press, Dark Horse, Seven Seas, Digital Manga Publishing, SuBLime Manga and many, many more have titles available for reading on your computer, your smart phone, tablet computers or e-reader devices, often at less than half the price of the printed versions.

'But computers, Nooks, Kindles and  iPads are expensive,' you say! True that! But there are more ways you can indulge in your manga habit than just turning on a computer. See the rest of the 15 ways to enjoy manga (without going broke) in my freshly updated list for 2012.

After you've checked out my list, perhaps you have a few cost-cutting tips to share? Please post 'em below and share your tips and tricks with your fellow manga fans!

You should add Powells.com to the used booksite list. They have a good selection of used manga.
