Manga Review: Blood Honey Feeds off Vampire Comics Trend

Blood HoneyLet's face it. Blood-suckers are hot stuff in comics nowadays; especially in manga. Shojo stories like Vampire Knight and Bloody Kiss and shonen titles like Rosario + Vampire and Blood Plus have proven to be popular, and of course, Yen Press' Twilight graphic novel will hit the bookstores next week.

So along comes Blood Honey, a one-shot yaoi manga about a male nurse who just happens to be a vampire (of sorts) and a hunky guy who just happens to like donating blood. Sound like a sexy supernatural romp with a Gothic twist? Guess again! Guest reviewer Shaenon Garrity sinks her teeth into Blood Honey by Sakyou Yozakura from BLU Manga / TokyoPop and finds that its fetishes for needles and blood are a little beyond the pale for her taste.

Curious about this blood-obsessed boys love manga? Get a taste of Blood Honey with this free online preview of the first chapter at TokyoPop.com.
