This week, manga editor and comics creator Jason Thompson and I joined the Anime 3000's Sean Russell and Jeridel Banks for a chat about original English language manga and global manga. You can download the podcast and listen to us chatter about the past, present and possible future prospects for success for international manga at Anime 3000.com.
This recent podcast is actually the third time Sean and the nice folks at Anime 3000 have invited me to chatter away about all things related to manga. In October 2009, Sean invited me, Ed Chavez, Vertical's Director of Marketing and Lillian Diaz-Pryzbyl, Senior Editor for TokyoPop to talk about the manga publishing industry in the U.S., the various challenges that are currently making things tough for some companies, and what digital distribution of titles like Rin-Ne by Rumiko Takahashi might mean in the war against online piracy. You can download and listen to the podcast, and see what we had to say.
My first guest stint on Anime 3000 was in April 2009, when Sean, Jeridel, Alain Mendez from Reverse Thieves and I talked about manga in general, some titles we are enjoying reading and were hot to recommend, like Future Diary, Pluto and 20th Century Boys. You can download the podcast and listen to us talk about manga, manga, and more manga!
