San Francisco's Cartoon Art Museum recently announced that one of their new exhibits for 2010 would be Batman: Yesterday and Tomorrow, an overview of DC Comics' Dark Knight evolution as seen by artists past and present, including Bob Kane, Frank Miller and Paul Pope.
Batman: Yesterday and Tomorrow is scheduled for January 30 - June 6, 2010, with announcements of artist appearances at CAM to come soon. For manga fans, this exhibit is offering a special treat: a first-time ever exhibit of original Batman manga art by Jiro Kuwata, from the collection of Chip Kidd.
Kidd, the co-author of Bat-Manga: The Secret History of Batman in Japan is loaning original artwork by Kuwata-sensei for this exhibit. As Cartoon Art Museum curator Andrew Farago described it,

"Chip Kidd is loaning us 30 pieces of Jiro Kuwata's art, all originals. It's the most original manga artwork we've shown, and probably one of the bigger manga exhibitions (of original manga art) in the U.S. since the Asian Art Museum's Tezuka exhibition (in 2007)."
According to the CAM website, Kidd will be appearing at the museum in conjunction with this exhibit at a date to be announced later. Other planned special guests include Paul Pope (creator of Batman: Year 100) and Pepe Moreno (creator of Batman: Digital Justice).
The Cartoon Art Museum is located in downtown San Francisco, California at 655 Mission Street. For more information, call CAM at (415) CAR-TOON, visit their website at http://www.cartoonart.org or visit their Facebook page to get invites to upcoming events related to this exhibit.
