Manga has been a part of the American comics scene for a relatively short time, but it's been long enough to generate several titles that can be called "classics."
Some of these stories in the Best Classic / Re-issued Manga Readers' Poll were originally published by other companies, then came back in spankin' new editions for fans old and new. Other titles came back bigger than ever in "more bang for your bucks" omnibus editions. And a few were new editions of favorites from familiar authors that were published for the first time as English editions this year.
From the adrenaline-pumping sci-fi of Akira and melancholy romance of Clover to the slice of life comedy of Yotsuba&! and Oh My Goddess, these 10 nominees are a fun reminder that some things really are better the second time around.

….I think having Yotsuba&! on that list is kind of unfair. All of the other releases have been on at least a ten year lapse, while Yotsuba&! is still pretty fresh and new. It also seems strange to have such a young series on a list with older ones.
Also, the Clover re-release was sexy. …just sayin’ :>
well, true — but i think no matter what category i’d put Yotsuba&! in, it’d do well. EVERYONE loves Yotsuba&!
And I wanted to give a shoutout to Yen Press’ editions, since they actually bothered to do new translations instead of just repackaging another publisher’s edition.
