As the year draws to a close, more and more books, comics and manga critics are posting their Best of 2009 lists. I already posted my 2009 Best New Manga and Best Continuing Manga lists, but which new graphic novels made the cut on other critics' lists?
As I was browsing some of the many "Best Graphic Novels" lists that have been popping up across the Web over the last week or so, I started to notice that a few titles were appearing on critics' lists over and over again. So out of curiosity, I pulled together the Critics Choice: 12 Best Manga of 2009 list, which compiles the 12 most critically-acclaimed new manga one-shots / series that were selected by over 30 print / web journalists, bloggers and comics creators.
It should surprise no one that A Drifting Life, Yoshihiro Tatsumi's 800+ page epic manga memoir from Drawn and Quarterly caught the attention of the most comics/book critics, with 19 (so far) nods on several Top Graphic Novels of 2009 lists. But which were the other 11 titles that got multiple votes of approval? Check out the rest of the list and stick around! As more "Best of 2009" lists appear over the next few weeks, I'll be updating this list, and who knows? These rankings might shift a bit as they do!
So what do you think? Do you agree with the titles that garnered the most "critical mass," or do you have a favorite that deserves more attention? Add your comments below, or post 'em in the forums!

I thought Nabari No ou had by far the best art and story this season, (although there are a few titles you have there I haven’t read yet, so I could be wrong).
Thanks for the suggestions; now I know what to look up when I go to Borders next:)
