The first week of any month is when a lot of new manga hits the shelves, so this week's edition of the New York Times Graphic Books list features lots of newcomers. This week's batch includes several titles that are making their first appearance on the NYT manga top 10.
It should surprise no one that Naruto Vol. 46 claimed the top spot on its second week on the top 10, nor that the latest volumes of perennial bestselling shonen manga series Rosario + Vampire and One Piece are here too.
What got me excited this week was seeing one of my personal favorites (and one of the quirkiest shojo manga titles around) Skip Beat! claiming a spot in this list. Also new from Shojo Beat: Wild Ones, a relatively mild romance about a girl who lives with her yakuza godfather grandfather, while fostering romantic feelings for her bodyguard.
