The organizers of Yaoi-Con 2009 announced that another Japanese manga artist will be joining them at their annual boys love fest in October: Kano Miyamoto. Miyamoto-sensei has several titles released in the U.S. through Aurora Publishing's Deux Press imprint: Say Please, Lovers and Souls and Two of Hearts. She will be making her first trip to a U.S. comics convention to meet fans and participate in a panel at this Northern California event.
Miyamoto-sensei is the latest guest added to a noteworthy line-up of comics creators at this year's event, including Japanese manga-ka Makoto Tateno (Yellow, Angelic Runes), artists Jo Chen (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Other Side of the Mirror), Yayoi Neko (Holmes & Watson), Yaoi Press publisher Yamilla Abraham and special guest Haruka Minami.
Yaoi-Con 2009 will be held from Friday, October 30 - Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the Marriott San Mateo-San Francisco Airport Hotel in Northern California. You can still take advantage of the pre-registration discount to get an entire weekend pass for $50 until September 26, 2009. After that date, the at-the-door rate of $60 applies. Visit the official Yaoi-Con 2009 website to get more info about tickets, events and more.
Also, if you want to stock up on Miyamoto-sensei's titles from Deux, now's a great time to do it, since they've extended their Back to School Sale through the end of September, with some titles going for $3 - $5, and $1 grab bags too.
Can't make it to Yaoi-Con? Find out where the next anime or comic convention is coming near you with the 2009-2010 Anime Convention Calendar -- or just stick around. I'll be checking out Yaoi-Con and will be filing reports from the show that weekend.
