Little Butterfly by Hinako TakanagaGardena, California-based Digital Manga Publishing gave boys love manga fans two extra reasons to trek out to Yaoi-Con 2009 on Halloween weekend: early releases of two hotly-anticipated yaoi manga titles exclusively at Yaoi-Con.

Little Butterfly by Hinako Takanaga has been a fan-favorite for years, but lately this three volume June Manga series has been out of print. DMP is remedying the situation by re-releasing this series as a 560-page deluxe omnibus edition in February 2010, but will make a "limited quantity" of this book available exclusively at this show, months in advance of its scheduled street date.

Yellow by Makoto TatenoAlso getting the omnibus treatment is another yaoi manga fan fave, Yellow by Makoto Tateno. Volumes 1 and 2 of Yellow will be released as a single 385-page volume in November 2009. In addition to the omnibus, DMP is also releasing Yellow 2: Episode 1 , a new collection of short stories featuring Yellow hunks Taki and Goh that were previously only serialized as cell phone manga stories in Japan.

As previously announced in July, Makoto Tateno, the creator of Yellow will also be Digital Manga Publishing's special guest at Yaoi-Con 2009, so she'll be on hand to sign these early releases of her manga just for Yaoi-Con attendees.

Yaoi-Con 2009 will be held on Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 1 at the Marriott San Mateo-San Francisco Airport Hotel, in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can still pre-register to attend this event for $50.00 for the entire weekend through September 26, 2009. After that date, you'll be paying the "at-the-door" rate of $60.00. Find out more about pre-registering for Yaoi-Con at their official website.

You can also get a taste of the fun that's in store at Yaoi-Con with my photo gallery from the 2007 event (sorry, I missed the 2008 show because New York Anime Festival was on the same weekend). But I'll be there this year, so stick around, there's more new to come on this once-a-year boys love fest.
