Anime Expo 2009: Photo Gallery and Highlights

Friday July 10, 2009

Last weekend, over 44,000 fans came from places near and far to check out four days of fun at Anime Expo 2009 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Now that the party's over, what's left? How about a bunch of photos of the festivities? I give to you, better late than never, my Anime Expo 2009 Photo Gallery.

AX '09 welcomed a star-studded roster of guests, including Yun Kouga (creator of Loveless, and character designer for Gundam 00), Takashi Okazaki (creator of Afro Samurai) and Yasuhiro Nightow who gave fans a peek at a new trailer from the Trigun movie that's now in the works. There were exciting concerts from visual kei rockers Moi dix Mois and pop songbirds Morning Musume, and tons of awesome cosplay.

Check out what you missed this year, including some killer Gurren Lagann cosplay, a face off between a pack of video game vixens and the Power Rangers and a meeting between Okazaki-sensei and some of his manga creations come to life.

Missed the fun this year? Mark your calendar for next year when Anime Expo will return to the Los Angeles Convention Center on July 1 - 4, 2010. There's also lots more comics and anime conventions coming your way. Check out the Anime and Comics Convention Calendar to see what's next.

Did you attend AX '09? What did you like most, what wowed you and / or what did you find most aggravating or disappointing? Add your comments below!

Morning Musume and their creator, Tsunku, were class acts at AX 2009. What a show! I would like to see more of them in the U.S.
