Haruhi Suzumiya Nudges Into NY Times Manga Bestseller List

For the third week in a row, Bleach Volume 27 by Tite Kubo hung on to the top spot on the New York Times Graphic Books / Manga bestseller list. This week also continues VIZ Media's dominance on this chart as it takes up seven out of the ten top spots.

Naruto Volume 43 and Volume 44 rushed in to reclaim the #2 and #3 spots respectively, knocking Rosario + Vampire Volume 7 down a few notches and last week's #2, TokyoPop's Warriors: Tigerstar and Sasha Volume 3 out of the top 10 entirely. Two Del Rey Manga releases, Negima! Volume 22 and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle Volume 21 return to the top 10 after a two and three week hiatus, respectively. The only newcomer to the chart this week is the third volume of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya from Yen Press, as it makes its debut at the #9 spot.

Also worth noting, Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life, the first volume of this popular series from Oni Press is still hanging strong in the Graphic Novels Paperback list. While the fifth volume came out earlier this year, this surge of interest in the first volume is an indication that that new fans are picking up on this series, perhaps due to the upcoming live-action film adaptation Scott Pilgrim vs. The World due out next year.
