Attention aspiring manga artists! San Francisco Japanese-American news weekly The Nichi Bei Times is looking for entries for their Annual Manga Art Contest. Send in your best full-color artwork via email to Nichi Bei Times, and you might be one of several lucky winners who'll win a Manga Studio Debut 4.0 or Art Rage software from Smith Micro, or a prize pack of art supplies from Sakura of America. The top prize winner will be featured on the cover of The Nichi Bei Times' annual anime and manga issue, which will hit the streets on May 27, 2009.
Entries are due either by email or by mail before Sunday, May 24, 2009. (Entry deadline has been extended from the originally posted date of May 21.) Participating artists can be any age, but if you're under 18, you'll need to have your parents permission to participate. Also, entries must depict your original characters, so please, no drawings of Naruto, Pokemon or Vampire Knight!
Past winners of the Nichi Bei Times Manga Art Contest have also been featured in traveling art exhibits at the Napa Valley Museum and at Shibuya Restaurant at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
