Yaoi-Con 2009 isn't until October, but the folks behind this annual boys love-fest has announced their first special guest, Japanese manga-ka, Haruka Minami.
Minami-sensei has a few titles out in America, including My Paranoid Next Door Neighbor from 801 Media / Digital Manga Publishing, which is credited to her under her other pen name, Kazuka Minami.
Here's the glee-filled description of Minami-sensei's accomplishments and her body of work, as seen on the Yaoi-Con website:
"It's no secret that Minami-sensei has perfected the fine art of drawing us in with clever humor, carefully opened shirts, and strategically placed ribbons... Crossing genres with enviably fluid ease, Minami-sensei's stories have the ability to make time fly.
There are heartbreaks and misunderstandings, high school drama in all its angsty forms, squishy-love with more fluff and honey than a rabbit in a cotton-candy spinner, and even comedy that will get you texting your friends in a flurry of giggles."
If you're an aspiring artist, yaoi manga publisher or exhibitor, it's never too early to apply for your spot in Fan Market / artists alley, the dealers room or to present a panel at this event. Spots are open now, and they tend to fill up fast, so act soon to exhibit or present at Yaoi-Con.
You can also pre-register to attend Yaoi-Con and save big on the at-the-door membership prices. Right now, it's $40.00 for a weekend pass, and this price will be valid through May 31, 2009. This is a pretty hefty savings off the $60.00 at the door price, so it's a good deal if you're already committed to attending this event in San Mateo, Northern California on October 30 - November 1, 2009.
