Mobile Manga News: New Vampire Hunter D for iPhone
From DMP's website: Another manga title joined mobile phone comics revolution this week: Vampire Hunter D by Hideyuki Kikuchi and Saiko Takaki from Digital Manga Publishing is the latest title to be added to uClick's small but growing line of comics and manga for the iPhone.
Vampire Hunter D is the sixth manga title added to uClick's mobile comics line-up, and only the second by a Japanese creator team. (The first is Guilstein by Naoyuki Sakai and Hisao Tamaki). It's also Digital Manga Publishing's first collaboration with uClick, who has published other titles from TokyoPop and PaperCutz.
The first volume of Vampire Hunter D is broken down into 6 "issues," each costing 99 cents to download to your iPhone from Apple's iTunes App Store. At a total cost of $5.94, buying all 6 issues will save you over 50% off the regular cover price of buying the hard copy of the graphic novel.
Curious about the whole mobile manga thing, but not sure you want to pay to give it a try? Dramacon by Svetlana Chmakova is still available for free from uClick. You can also check out my mini-review of my experiences reading Dramacon on the iPhone.
Prefer the hard-copy reading experience? DMP recently announced that the third volume of the Vampire Hunter D manga saga is due out in May 2009 and posted a preview of this new arrival. They also announced new updates to the Vampire Hunter D website, including the addition of new character profiles.
