And now, the final Readers' Poll for 2008! It's time for you to vote for the 2008 Best Book About Manga! By "book about manga," I'm referring to the various art books, fan books and books about manga art and culture that came out this year. Not sure what I mean? Check out the poll page for descriptions, cover artwork and links for more info about each nominee and choose your favorite there, or scroll down to vote now.

This poll includes art books featuring illustrations from top manga-ka like Takehiko Inoue and Arina Tanemura, fan books filled with profiles of your favorite characters from Death Note, Fruits Basket, Bleach and Genshiken, plus books about Japanese pop culture like Yokai Attack!, a field guide to the demons, spirits and sprites who frequently pop up in manga and anime.

What's not included here in this set of nominations are light novels, mostly because enough of them came out this year to warrant them being a category all by themselves, but at the same time, I didn't read enough of them to really feel like I could make a call on what was truly great. Maybe I'll tackle this category next year!

In the meantime, do you already know which book earned a spot on your bookshelf? You can click on the links below to vote. If you'd like to know more about the nominees, visit the poll page to to see more about the 10 books nominated in this poll.. UPDATE: Polls closed on Sunday, January 25, 2009.

  • See and vote in all of the polls at the 2008 Manga Readers' Polls roundup page. Voting will be open until Sunday, January 25 at midnight, Pacific Time. I'll be posting the final results by the end of January 2009.

To qualify for this poll, the nominated book must have released in English in the U.S. between January 1 thru December 31, 2008. Of course, there were more than 10 worthy nominees in this category published this year, so if you'd like to put in a good word for your overlooked favorite, please add your vote in the comments or post your vote in the forums.

Hope you're enjoying my little experiment in manga democracy. Stay tuned, because the votes will be tabulated and the winners will be announced soon!
