So You Think You're a Hardcore Otaku? MTV Wants You!

Calling all comics, manga and anime fanatics! MTV, along with New York Comic-Con and Anime Expo want the hardest of the hardcore, the most fanatical fanboys, fangirls and otaku to apply to be the subject of an upcoming episode of MTV's True Life series: "I'm a Fan Boy" (or "Fan Girl" as the case may be).

Both conventions have put the word out on their websites about this open casting call. The MTV casting crew are specifically looking for male or female participants, between ages 16 to 28 who meet these requirements:

"Are you obsessed with comic books, anime, fantasy, or manga? Do you like to dress up as your favorite character and attend conventions with other fans? Have you ever waited in line overnight for a book, movie, or videogame release? Do you have tattoos depicting your favorite brand or characters? Have you ever missed work, school, or other important events to engage in role-playing or cosplay? Are you misunderstood by your family or significant other because of it? Have you ever been told to "grow up" by someone important to you? If you're an obsessed fanboy (or girl), we want to hear from you."

If you've ever watched True Life, you know that the stories are told from a first person point of view. The cameras follow several young people as they explain and deal with various situations or turning points in their lives. Past episodes of True Life have featured themes such as "I Have Embarrassing Parents," "I Need Anger Management" and "I'm a Professional Gamer."
