Yaoi Manga-ka Youka Nitta Cancels Yaoi-Con Appearance
From the Yaoi-Con website: Japanese yaoi manga-ka Youka Nitta has cancelled her scheduled appearance at Yaoi-Con 2008 in San Mateo, California. No official word on the reasons, but her cancellation is likely related to the furor over charges of copyright infringement that have been burning up the blogosphere in both Japan and U.S. for the last week. See a few examples from the link posted by Gia on A Geek by Any Other Name.
Nitta, the creator of yaoi manga titles including Embracing Love (Central Park Media) and The Prime Minister's Secret Diplomacy (801 Media) has acknowledged that she has used fashion and advertising photography to create several illustrations since this controversy has erupted.
Yaoi-Con organizers have promised to announce more guests for their September show in the weeks to come.
