Anime Expo '08: DMP Announces 14 New Manga for '09

Saturday July 5, 2008

Southern California-based manga publisher Digital Manga Publishing (DMP) whipped through a list of their upcoming releases for 2009 at their Friday afternoon panel at Anime Expo 2008 in Los Angeles.

And by "whipped through," I'm talking whiplash speed -- most of the journalists there covering the event where left scrambling to compare our incomplete notes so we'd be sure to get the entire list of the 14 new manga that DMP Marketing Manager Rachel Livingston announced at this panel. We weren't able to get plot synopses either -- because that wasn't available either. We'll just have to wait until DMP's website is updated on Monday -- but here's the list just so you have a taste of what's soon to come. First, the list from Digital Manga Publishing:

  • UtaHime (Princess Song) by Aki
  • Overclock Once in a blue Moon by Riya Hozumi and Ryouko Seki
  • Ghost Hunt Scramble by Ototachibana
  • Tale of a White Night by Tooko Miyagi
  • RH Plus by Ayako Suwa
  • Time for Magic by Morehe Yoshida
  • Lyrical Nanoha Strikers by Maki Tsuzuki and Koji Hasegawa
Next, the new manga from their co-branded Doki Doki imprint with Japanese publisher Shinshokan:
  • Princess Princess + by Mikiyo Tsuda
  • Happy Boys by Makoto Tateno
  • Wolf God by Ai Tenkawa
  • Otodama by Youka Nitta
  • Crimson Cross by Kyoko Negishi and Sakae Maeda
  • Millenium Prime Minister by Eiki Eiki

The rest of the panel was spent promoting their Pop Japan Travel tours, which includes the Mind Over Manga tour (which departs in late August, with a deadline of July 14 to sign up), and mention of upcoming tours, which will include a trip to the Tokyo Game Festival in October, Design Festa in November, Sapporo Snow Festival this winter, and more Yaoi and Gothic and Lolita tours. Visit Pop Japan Travel's website for more info and to sign up for their mailing list to be the first to find out about the new tours.

UPDATE: I wasn't able to make it for the June Manga / 801 panel where DMP reps announced their upcoming barrage of new boys love / yaoi manga -- but check out the list posted by the hardy souls at A Geek By Any Other Name or Manga Maniac Cafe.
