TokyoPop Aftermath: Manga Creators Speak Out

By , About.com GuideJune 28, 2008

Follow me on:

Between TokyoPop "reorganization" that hit in early June and the controversy over their Manga Pilot Program, there was a lot of heated emotions about TP out there in the blogosphere. But now that the dust has settled a bit, Benjamin Ong Pang Kean at Newsarama has written an in-depth, 3-part article series that gets a whole lot of quotes from TokyoPop creators past and present about their experiences with TP, the current status of their projects, what's next on their plates after the shake-up, and even gets some feedback from some of the initial artists involved in the Manga Pilot Program.

Check out the three articles here:

Ong Pang Kean got a whole lot of TokyoPop Original English Language (OEL) manga creators to chime in, including M. Alice LeGrow (Bizenghast), Becky Cloonan (East Coast Rising), Jake Pascoe (Undertown), and Lindsay Cibos and Jared Hodges (Peach Fuzz), and they talk about their experiences with TokyoPop, the future of their respective projects, and even whether they consider their work to be "manga" in the first place.
