Convention News: Comic-Con 4-Day Passes Sold Out
I've been focusing on the Eisner Awards this week, but attention is also due to the venue of the Eisners, San Diego Comic-Con. It seems every year this annual comics / sci-fi / collectibles / pop culture fest gets bigger and busier. The 2008 show already looks to meet or beat last year's attendance with news that the four-day passes are already sold out, and one-day passes for Saturday, the busiest day of the show looks like it's already at 60% sold. Visit the Comic-Con official website to check out their handy-dandy ticket sales meter and you'll see what I mean. And it's also worth noting that this year, tickets will only be available through online pre-sale -- no ticket sales at the door.
This year, two, count 'em, two big name Japanese manga artists are scheduled to appear at Comic-Con: Tite Kubo, creator of Bleach and Zombie Powder, and Hiro Mashima, creator of Fairy Tail and Rave Master. So a word to the wise: if you're even thinking of coming to San Diego this July 24 - 27, 2008, firm up your travel plans ASAP.
In the meantime, get a taste of the fun from last year's show and check out my photo gallery from Comic-Con 2007.
