Jason Thompson's How to "Taste" Manga Tips
What makes a particular manga "good" and another manga, well, better off in the recycle bin? Manga reviewer, author and editor Jason Thompson, perhaps drawing upon his experience growing up near Northern California's wine country, offers his take on how to "taste" manga in this hilarious article on Otaku USA's website.
Joined by fellow connoisseurs Jake Forbes (TokyoPop editor and writer for the Return to Labyrinth manga) and Ryan Sands, "tech-industry power broker and underground manga translator," Thompson teaches neophytes how to appreciate the flavors, the bouquet and chewiness that makes fine manga worth reading.
Find out which magazine is the "Two-Buck Chuck" of manga, and which seinen manga title earned the faint-hearted praise, "A good manga to get drunk on, but doesn't pair well for meals" in the tasters' notes from Les Gouttes de Manga ("Manga Tasting").
