VIZ Media is expanding their online anime offerings this Monday, December 17 with the addition of Eyeshield 21 to the Toonami Jetstream line-up, joining other VIZ hits such as One Piece, Mär and Zatch Bell. Now fans of this fun and exciting football sports manga series will be able to enjoy the animated episodes that were previously not available in the States anytime online, on demand. (Well, unless you're a Mac user, and then you're out of luck, since Jetstream only supports Windows computers. Bummer!)
Eyeshield 21 is one of my all-time favorite manga series right now, and I'm not even a football fan -- in fact, far from it. But it's such a great mix of comedy, engaging, lovable characters and exciting cliff-hangers that just suck you in and won't let you go, you don't have to be a ESPN-addict to enjoy it.
Eyeshield Volume 17 just came out a few weeks ago, and it's clearly one of the best chapters in this series to date. The Devil Bats are up against strategic powerhouses the Seibu Wild Gunmen in the semi-finals, and it's a nail-biter up until the end. There are plot twists and exciting action on every page, plus Riichiro Inagaki and Yusuke Murata serve up the perfect cliffhanger on the final page that has me counting the days until the release of Volume 18 in February.
Check out my review of Eyeshield Volume 17 and find out why it's a sports manga that should be on your must-buy list too.
