Review: The Art of Nausicaä Peeks Into Miyazaki's Mind

Thursday December 13, 2007

Looking for a gift for your favorite anime fan or aspiring artist? Consider tucking a copy of The Art of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind under their tree this Christmas.

This gorgeous, full-color art book is filled with illustrations and sketches by master animator / storyteller Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle) related to the creation of one of his most beloved creations, Nausicaä the warrior princess. It also includes commentary from Miyazaki-sensei about his creative process, and behind-the-scenes details about the characters and origins of Nausicaä's organic fantasy world.

See my review The Art of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and see if this hardcover art book will make a great gift for your anime-loving pals, or maybe a treat for yourself.
