As almost everyone expected, the Marvel Comics / Del Rey Manga announcement at the New York Anime Festival has got the comics blogosphere buzzing, and more than a few Spiderman Underoos in a knot.

For those of you who missed the panel on Sunday, here's a peek at some of artwork of the X-Men shojo manga series that was presented (NOTE: This is NOT for the Wolverine shonen manga series -- the artist for that project hasn't been announced yet!).

Check out Anzu's preliminary sketches (and we emphasize the word preliminary here, since the completed graphic novel won't hit the stores until 2009) and see her first shot at giving mutant heroes (and villains) Jean Grey, Wolverine, Magneto and Mystique a shojo manga makeover.

So what do you think? Take our X-Men Manga poll, or add your two cents to the fray in our forums.
